Abstract: This book was written to relate to the 2000 Utopia Exhibition on Utopian Thought that was shown in France and New York. An attractively illustrated book, it aims to be a chronological history of the search for the ideal city form but becomes a more general history of ideas. It starts with Babylon, moves through the Renaissance and the Industrial Revolution to present day, discussing the types of environments we have created for ourselves.
