Community Safety in Residential Areas : A Design Guide from the City of Nottingham
July 1998
Foreword
"Security and personal safety should be things we take for granted, both in our homes and our neighbourhoods. However, crime and the fear of crime are still major issues in society - ones which the City Council is fighting with a series of major initiatives.
This Community Safety Design Guide shows how careful design of our physical environment can reduce the opportunity for crime and improve the feeling of safety in our residential areas.
This guide has resulted from the co-operation of community groups, the police, planners, architects and housing developers in working towards a common aim - to create a safer environment for us all to enjoy. It is one step forward in the Councils fight to turn this city into one of the best places in the U.K. to live."
