Mobility in Cities data
The Mobility in Cities Database (MCD) is available online. The January 2006 update follows in the steps of the Millennium Cities Database for Sustainable Transport, which collected comparable indicators of urban mobility economics to shed light on the links between urban planning, the use of the various transport modes and transport system performance and costs.
This update for the year 2005 offers an analysis of the latest evolutions in urban mobility economics and the most successful mobility. In particular, the data will show the evolution of the public transport market share in a changing environment, and will help further develop a set of arguments in favour of public transport and sustainable urban mobility.
The database will contain a set of 120 indicators collected in 50 cities worldwide. The easy-to-use interface will enable the database to be searched by theme, location, or a combination of the two. Graphs can be generated for an easy visual comparison of city performances. Data can be easily exported into a spreadsheet format for further use and analysis.
