Government response reinforces need for more public toilets
The Government has responded to the findings of a Select Committee's inquiry into public access to toilets. The report reinforces the importance of good quality public toilet provision and recognises the work already undertaken by many local authorities to improve the situation in their areas.
The British Toilet Association, an active campaigner for better ‘away from home toilets’ throughout the UK since 1999, contributed to the Government’s Strategic Guide – Improving Public Access to Better Quality Toilets, published on 6 March 2008, as well as giving written and oral evidence to the DCLG Select Committee. The Select Committee published its report in October 2008.
