The School of the Built Environment is the UK's top rated institution providing Built Environment higher education. The School won the Queen's Anniversary Prize for its contribution to higher education and is the only school in Built Environment to have been awarded this honour.
The School has a strong, multi-disciplinary teaching and learning base, strengthened by national and international collaboration. We have over 60 academic staff of whom 26 are professors. Our top calibre teaching, research and technical staff offer access to leading edge thinking, knowledge and support facilities of the highest quality. We have over 1200 undergraduate students, some 200 Masters students and 140 PhD postgraduate research students from all over the world. Our graduates are much sought after by blue chip companies.
We offer a range of management focused, professionally accredited, undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes. The programmes have been developed in partnership with the Built Environment industries to meet their needs for future innovative leaders.
The School offers a popular programme MSc Regeneration and Urban Renewal. It aims to help develop appropriate skills for better community centered sustainable regeneration strategies by employing an integrated and holistic approach. The programme examines a wide range of issues including technological, managerial, design and planning, sustainability and the human implication of community renewal projects.
The structure employs a combination of project-based learning, and group engagement using real regeneration projects in order to provide students with the practical knowledge and skills to develop and contribute to sustainable and effective regeneration strategies and initiatives.
