OPEN CALL
JAFSCD welcomes articles at any time on any subject related to the development aspects of agriculture and food systems.
Faculty and students, Extension and other educators, planners, consultants, staff with farm agencies and farm and community organizations, and farmers are are encouraged to submit applied research papers, commentary, and thought-provoking articles that inform the emerging field of agriculture and food systems development.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
- conservation and farmland protection,
- value-adding,
- cooperative marketing, value chains, distribution, farm labor,
- market research, consumer decision-making drivers,
SPECIAL TOPIC CALL: Best Practices in Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Development
Articles may address the following, among other topics:
- Urban livestock management and regulation
- Urban market gardening and backyard gardening
- Aquaculture and hydroponics
- Marketing and value-adding
- Waste management and reuse
- Urban farming by immigrant or other special populations
- Farming on the fringe

For both calls, manuscripts should focus on the practical application of these innovations: the organization and mechanics of a program or strategy; engagement of stakeholders; challenges and unique solutions; impact analysis; and lessons learned. These papers should inspire and inform new and existing community development efforts to establish and sustain farms. Papers that feature survey results with descriptive statistics, or case studies featuring best practices (or even post-mortem analyses), are highly encouraged.

JPMD Call for Papers
The Journal of Place Management & Development, the official journal of the IPM, has been well received since launching in March of this year.
Volume 1 Issue 1 featured contributions from the USA, Canada, Australia, Dubai, Italy and the UK; covering such issues as professionalizing BID management, finding one's place in the spectrum of place management, European shopping centre developments, and retailer led TCM schemes.
Volume 1 Issue 2 is published in August and again features a wide variety of papers from authors in Poland, New Zealand, The Netherlands, Australia, Italy, South Africa and the UK; including a selection of the best papers presented at the IPM's inaugural conference held in February. In addition, the President of the International Downtown Association (USA), David Feehan, kindly reviewed Issue 1 for us, his review appears in Issue 2.
Members of the IPM can access Issue 1 through the e-academy now, Issue 2 will be available early August. For those that may be unaware, access to the JPMD is free for all IPM members.

Submissions of Papers and Articles
Submissions to the Journal are welcomed from individuals, group or organization involved in the development and implementation of culture and urban development strategies and programmes. Submissions to the Journal should be informative and can be either papers based upon academic research or articles and papers from practice.
