Burj Dubai is a mixed use development and includes the world's tallest tower, the world's largest shopping mall and the world's largest lake fountain.
Al Khatib Cracknell has been appointed to provide landscape master planning, detail design and site services for the streetscape, public realm, key open spaces, lake edges, promenade, sales centre complexes, and lake fountain throughout this 190 hectare development. This work involves seeing the project from inception through to construction.
Key features of the development include the Boulevard with the Plazas of Wind, Water, Fire, and Earth; the Island Park which will include an Alpine greenhouse and sculptural bridge; the Tower Park with its grand cascades; and the Mall promenade with its extensive view of the world’s largest musical fountain.

AKC has been appointed to provide the majority of the landscape masterplanning, detail design and supervision for this project. The scope of work to be carried out by AKC includes key open spaces, lake edges, promenade, the Old Town, the lake fountain, various residential areas, and sales centre complexes throughout this four-hectare project.
Significant features of the development include the Island Park, which will comprise a tree fern greenhouse and sculptural bridge; the tower park with its grand water cascades; and the Mall promenade with its panoramic view of the world’s largest musical fountain; and the Boulevard with the plazas of wind, water, fire, and earth.
The design of the tower is based on an Arab desert flower. Burj Dubai is set to be the world's tallest building and the centerpiece of one of the Gulf region's most prestigious urban developments, to be called Downtown Dubai. The tower's exact height hasn't been disclosed but it has been confirmed that it will be over 700 meters tall.
Burj Dubai is being constructed on Sheikh Zayed Road, and will be surrounded by a man-made lake. It will also be surrounded by a combination of residential, commercial, hotel, entertainment and leisure outlets, along with open green spaces, water features, and pedestrian boulevards.
Burj Residence (The Residence)The Burj Dubai Residence will be a residential area of Downtown Dubai containing nine luxury freehold apartment towers with open water, calming greenery, state-of-the-art gyms, pools and spas. These towers will contain 1, 2 and 3 bedroom suites, penthouses, or villas.
This development is located at the foot of Burj Dubai and will contain a variety of freehold properties, from low-rise three storey apartment buildings to exclusive mid-rise towers with penthouses. It will have traditional architecture and will have outdoor living areas such as terraces and balconies. The development will also contain restaurants from five-star dining to outdoor cafes overlooking parks and waterways.
The Lofts (loft living)The Lofts will be a series of double-storey freehold apartments along the 3.5 km (2.2 miles) long, 73 meter (240 feet) wide Burj Dubai Boulevard. These will be situated within an exclusive 3-tower complex of 27 to 30 storeys and raised from a 6-storey podium. The Lofts tower complex will offer one and two bedroom units with a maximum of 6 suites per floor, each with panoramic windows and outdoor balconies.
Downtown Dubai's major retail outlet will also be the world's largest shopping mall, which will cover 9 million square feet (836 thousand square meters). Burj Dubai Mall will have areas for leisure pursuits, including a world-class aquarium, fashion show arena, gold souk and an ice rink.
