project overview: jumeirah beach residence (jbr) in dubai marina, uae
Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), Dubai
Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) is an impressive 22 million sq. ft. of gross floor area development across a length of 1.7 kilometres. The complex features 36 residential towers, four hotel towers and beach clubs and is being developed by the same team that produced Dubai Internet City and the Dubai Media City. Al Khatib Kracknell has undertaken the masterplanning and urban design work for the project. The project opens its door to 25,000 tenants by end 2006, although it is intended that the entire JBR project will be ready at the same time.
This is part of the larger Dubai marina project. The Marina will cover an area of 24.4 million square feet and will have a sea-face stretching out up to three kilometers. Emaar will develop the site, which will have a mix of low, medium and high-rise buildings. Only 42 per cent of the Marina area will be available for construction, the rest comprising open space, water, roadways and public facility activities. JBR is the world's largest single phase project; part of the larger Dubai Marina 'city in a city' development which is expected to accommodate more than 150,00 people. The mini city will be completed over a period of 10 years, and is due for completion in 2008.
